Combine the milk, rolled oats, cardamom, vanilla, cinnamon stick, salt, and dates in a medium pot. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat and then reduce to low. Allow the oatmeal to thicken, occasionally stirring.

Once the oatmeal has cooked through, turn off the heat, remove the cinnamon stick, and cover with a lid and let the oatmeal sit for 5-10 minutes. (This will make it extra creamy!)
